Forty four families who foster in Trafford enjoyed a memorable day out together at Gulliver’s World theme park.

For the third year in a row, Trafford Council’s fostering service invited fostering families to join in the fun and make full use of the rides and attractions. 

It was a lovely opportunity for families to relax together with both their fostered and birth children, and to meet other families who foster. This trip is one of a series of events organised by Trafford’s fostering team throughout the year to support foster families and to help them develop links with the wider fostering community.

Foster carer Katie Allen said: “It really was special to have this opportunity to go and spend the day as a family - the smiles on the children’s faces were priceless. It was a day they will remember forever and they haven’t stopped talking about it!”

Cllr Tom Ross, Leader of Trafford Council added: "Giving children in Trafford the best start in life is one of our key priorities, and foster carers play a vital role in helping us to achieve that ambition.

“We are grateful to all our foster carers who open their hearts to children who need a stable home, and help to create the secure foundations that enable children to thrive.”

Cllr George Devlin, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Babies, Children and Young People said: “Our foster carers are fundamental to Trafford’s commitment to providing the best possible support to the children in our care, and it was fantastic to once again be able to bring families together to enjoy a special day out during the summer holidays.

“When you foster for Trafford Council, not only are you offering a local child a safe and loving home, you are also joining an incredible community of foster carers who support each other on their fostering journeys.

“As a Council we are very grateful to our foster carers for everything they do and the difference they make every day for the children in their care. We do need more carers in Trafford, and would love to hear from anyone who is considering fostering in Trafford.”
