Salford City Council is part of Foster for Greater Manchester, a collaborative partnership between all 10 Greater Manchester local authorities. We support new and existing foster carers to provide safe and loving homes for children and young people.
Salford City Council is a not-for-profit organisation, so the primary importance is to help foster carers support children and young people living in Salford including; Barton, Boothstown, Claremont, Clifton, Broughton, Eccles, Irlam, Little Hulton, Ordsall, Pendleton, Salford Quays, Swinton Walkden, Weaste and Worsley.
Fostering is a professional role with responsibilities. Foster carers receive a regular tax-free financial allowance plus additional payments and benefits for each child in their care. The amount received depends on your experience as a foster carer, the type of fostering and the age of the child.
Salford City Council values its foster carers and recognises their skills and commitment. We're here to provide you with support, advice and encouragement at all times so you can provide the best possible care for the children and young people you look after.
We provide full ongoing training and are committed to your personal development, so you are always learning new skills. You will receive support from your own social worker, support workers, support groups and the Foster Care Association, as well as access to a 24/7 emergency phone line. We also host regular support groups and social activities for you to attend and meet other foster carers.
By fostering with us you will be supporting local children or young people, allowing families to stay close to where they are from. Not only does this make it easier for you, it allows the children in your care to continue at the same school and stay connected with close families and friends.
