Tameside Council is part of Foster for Greater Manchester, a collaborative partnership between all 10 Greater Manchester local authorities. We support new and existing foster carers to provide safe and loving homes for children and young people.
Tameside Council is a not-for-profit organisation, who provide support to local foster carers, families, children and young people living in Tameside.
Fostering is a professional role with responsibilities. Foster carers receive a regular tax-free financial allowance plus additional payments and benefits for each child in their care. The amount received depends on your experience as a foster carer, the type of fostering and the age of the child.
You will be supporting vulnerable local children and young people to stay close and connected to friendship groups, schools and other networks to ensure these children have stability in such an unstable period of their lives.
We provide ongoing training and support, starting with our ‘Skills to Foster’, this helps foster carers understand what fostering involves. Before your approval we will look to identify a Fostering Buddy, this person will be an experienced foster carer, who will be a part of your support network. Once approved you will be matched with a Supervising Social Worker who will provide one-to-one support, which involves offering advice and guidance, and they can identify any training that could increase your skills and support you in your fostering role. They will also hear any of your concerns and support you when facing any challenges. There are support groups on offer for all of our local foster carers, and this is a great opportunity to form friendships and share expertise within our Tameside fostering family.
Be the difference to our local children and join our Fostering Family in Tameside.
